When we hear the term “super foods” we tend to throw out reason and embrace mystery. The term sounds so compelling because the effect of these foods are so powerful. We automatically classify them as exotic fruits, like acai berries or greens from sea kelp. While these more arcane types of foodstuffs qualify for that designation, the real definition is much broader and more approachable. And that’s good because it turns out that getting this important classification of food into your diet does not have to be complicated. Super foods are actually everywhere, we just have been defining them incorrectly.
Chef Julie Morris began her journey to understand what these foods really are and why the are so beneficial about 10 years ago. Her passion for healthful eating led her to develop recipes, write a cookbook, and host a web based TV show all on this important and commonly misunderstood topic.
We are kicking off the nutrition track for our ongoing Be Your Best 365 series with this special be Expert Interview. Julie enlightens us with her extensive knowledge by discussing:
